Extension and refurbishment of our favourite city centre pub in the Rodney Street ‘cathedral' conservation area of Liverpool. We imagined the extension as a 'lean to' - a new annex. The Grapes’ small bar rooms create intimate drinking areas which we had to preserve. We took the yard from the ground floor and put it on the first. In the tradition of public houses, externally the extension had to be ornate so we decorated it with a dutch style gable, bulls eye window and glazed bricks to the new ground floor window openings.
We can't wait to get a pint at the Grapes and give Anna our support after this terrible Covid nightmare has ended.
