Originally a Water Tower designed by the famous victorian architect Alfred Waterhouse to provide water to the closets in the adjacent Hinderton Hall.
The Water Tower was previously converted to living accommodation in the 1970's and had a rectilinear extension added in the 1980's.
Our new extension keeps away from the original tower by joining onto the 1980's extension and turns 30 degrees to sit more comfortably on the site bringing the double garage parallel with the site boundary and forming a courtyard to the front.
The existing living accommodation was split between the ground and the first floor and was proving less than ideal. The tower is Ideal for bedroom accommodation and so the design focusses on adding a new living zone to the ground floor.
We are introducing a new vertical metal cladding to differentiate the new addition materially from the original Tower and the 1980's addition whilst using the claddings red tones to sit comfortably next to the original Towers coursed rockfaced sandstone.
