The Grapes, Liverpool

SEP 2014

A local pub owner asked us to design a single-storey extension to this much-loved city center pub. The Public House is the only surviving part of Georgian terraces previoulsly standing along Knight Street and Roscoe Street and is completely overwhelmed by the scale of recent development around it. Accepting that nothing could be done to attempt addressing the scale of surrounding buildings, we started to consider the Public House as an isolated fragment and our new annex aimed to architecturally terminate this 'remnant' of the Roscoe Street terrace.
